Pune-Bangkok Direct Flights to Start From November 22
Pune, October 23, 2024: Airport officials have confirmed that the direct flights from Pune to Bangkok will resume from November 22. The flight, which was initially set to begin on October 27, will now operate three times a week.
Last month, airport authorities announced new international flights from Pune, including a daily Pune-Dubai flight and a thrice-weekly Pune-Bangkok service, both originally planned to start on October 27. This was also shared by Union Minister of State for Aviation and Pune MP, Murlidhar Mohol, on his X account on September 19.
However, IndiGo has since revised the schedule for the Pune-Bangkok flight to attract more passengers and avoid the low occupancy issues that led to the suspension of a similar route in the past. Pune Airport Authority, explained that the rescheduled service aims to better inform travelers about the new flights. “The last time another airline launched flights to Bangkok, they had to suspend the service due to low passenger occupancy. The new schedule is intended to avoid a similar situation,”.
The flights will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, departing Pune at 11:10 p.m. and arriving in Bangkok at 4:45 a.m. The return flight from Bangkok will run on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, departing at 1:15 a.m. and landing in Pune at 4:15 a.m.
Pune Airport currently operates two other direct international routes: a long-running SpiceJet service to Dubai and a Vistara flight to Singapore, which launched in December 2023. A previous attempt by SpiceJet to maintain a Pune-Bangkok route in 2013 was discontinued in 2014, with a subsequent attempt to revive the route in 2022 also failing to materialize.
