Pune: Business man fires a bullet in a restaurant in Mhalunge to show off, arrested
Hinjawadi Police arrested a 41-year-old business man for firing a bullet from his licensed pistol in a restaurant in Mhalunge on Saturday to show off to his friends.
The restaurant’s manager filed a complaint on Sunday. The businessman, who runs an eatery, is a resident of Susgaon and has been charged under sections 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) and 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the relevant sections of the Indian Arms Act, police said.
His licensed firearm has been seized, police added.
According to police, the restaurant manager has said in his complaint that the businessman is a regular customer of their restaurant.
“Late on Friday night, the he visited the eatery alone and occupied a family room on the first floor to have his dinner. At this time, he befriended a group of men seated in a neighbouring table and joined them,” Sub-inspector Tukaram Shelke of the Hinjewadi police said.
In order to show off his new friends, the businessman took out his licensed firearm and shot one round at a wall. “On hearing the gunshot, the restaurant manager first informed the owner. The manager then lodged a complaint on Sunday,” Shelke said.
According to the FIR, the businessman fired the weapon inside a restaurant knowing very well that such an action could have killed someone or put the lives of other customers in the premises in grave danger.
