Pune: Businessman Kidnapped and Murdered Over Rs 2 Crore Ransom Demand

In a shocking incident near Pune, 70-year-old businessman Vitthal Sakharam Polekar was abducted and brutally murdered. The crime took place after he and his son refused to pay a ransom of Rs 2 crore. Polekar, who was a government contractor and lived at Polekar Wadi near Sinhagad Fort, was abducted by gangster Yogesh alias Babu Kisan Bhame of Donje village and his associates of the “BB Boys” gang during a morning walk on November 14.

According to the police, Bhame had earlier demanded Rs 2 crore or a Jaguar SUV from Polekar and his son Prashant, which they refused to pay. After the abduction, Polekar’s daughter Sonali lodged a complaint at the Haveli police station and suspected Bhame’s involvement.

During the investigation, the police arrested three suspects, one from Pune and two from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. Following the investigation, human remains were recovered in Osade village near the backwaters of the Khadakvasla dam, which are believed to be of Vitthal Polekar. The remains have been sent for DNA testing, and the police are still looking for another accused.

Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh has confirmed that murder charges have now been added to the FIR. The incident has left the local community shocked and heartbroken.
