Pune: Couple Booked for Using Fake Number Plate to Evade Traffic Fine
Pune, November 17, 2024: The Shivajinagar police have registered a case against a couple for allegedly installing fake number plates on their two-wheeler to avoid paying long-pending traffic fines.
The incident came to light on November 15, when the traffic police stopped them during routine checking.
When stopped by the police, the couple argued with the officials and also obstructed their official duty. They were taken to the traffic division office, where they created a ruckus and threatened the policemen with dire consequences, including a warning of dismissal from service.
The police then took them into custody and registered a case under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 221, 336(3), 338, 340(2), 351(1), and 3(5). The charges include disorderly behaviour and obstruction of duty.
