Pune: Five injured in gas leak explosion in Pimpri
Pune, August 21, 2024: Five people were injured after a leak in a cooking gas cylinder caused an explosion on Wednesday in Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune.
The explosion, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday at around 5.30am, took place in a room located in Bouddh Nagar, Pimpri, where the victims reside, a fire brigade official said.
“The explosion took place after one of the residents switched on the gas stove,” he said. According to the opinion of the fire brigade officials, the gas may have been leaking throughout the night, and the explosion was triggered when someone tried to ignite the gas stove in the morning.
The injured have been identified as Manoj Kumar, 19, Dheeraj Kumar, 23, Govind Ram, 28, Ram Kumar, 40, and Samendar Ram, 30. They are being treated at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital in Pimpri.
