Pune: Frequency of metro trains increased during peak hours to cater to increased demand
Pune, August 22, 2024: Pune Metro Rail authorities have announced an increased frequency of metro trains on both lines to cater to increased demand.
Beginning 21st August, metro trains will run every 7 minutes during peak hours in the morning and evening (8 am to 11 am and 4 pm to 8 pm). Trains will be available for passengers every 7 minutes. Due to the increase in frequency, there will be an increase of 4 rounds on both the routes.
Earlier, a total of 113 trips were made on the Purple Line between Pimpri – Chinchwad Municipal Corporation to Civil Court, but from 21 August 2024, 117 trips will be made. Similarly, there used to be a total of 114 trips on the Aqua Line from Vanaz to Ramwadi, but from 21 August 2024, there will be 118 trips.
During off-peak hours (6 am to 8 am, 11 am to 4 pm and 8 pm to 10 pm), the metro frequency will be 10 minutes as before.
Yesterday, Pune Metro also inaugurated the Yerwada metro station, enabling passengers to access the Pimpri – Chinchwad Municipal Corporation to Civil Court (Purple Line) of Pune Metro Rail network.
On this occasion, Shravan Hardikar, Managing Director of Maha Metro said, “Passengers will benefit from the increase in the number of trips and frequency of the metro. The waiting time of the passengers at the metro stations will be reduced. There will be an increase of 8 trips on both routes during rush hours. More citizens will be able to travel by metro”.
