Pune: IMD Issues Rainfall Alert Issued for Pune, Konkan, and Madhya Maharashtra Regions
Pune, October 16, 2024: Rain and thundershowers are in the offing for Pune, Konkan, and Madhya Maharashtra, in view of a yellow alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department as northeast monsoon takes starts to roll in on the east coast of the country.
During the next five days, moderate to heavy rain is likely across parts of Maharashtra as the southwest monsoon retrieves. Areas covered include Pune, Satara, Kolhapur, Nashik, and Ahmednagar in Madhya Maharashtra, as well as Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg in Konkan, for heavy rain accompanied by stormy winds today, October 16.
IMD says, Marathwada may also see scattered light showers, however, significant rain there is not expected. Citizens are requested to keep themselves posted with the official updates and be careful, especially when the thunderstorms appear. The farmers are being requested to take care of their crops by the forecast.
What’s more, while there is widespread rain and thunderstorms drenching the state, certain regions in Maharashtra sizzle due to high mercury levels. Brahmapuri recorded 36.7°C, Akola 35.5°C and Chandrapur 35°C. Citizens of such warm locations are requested to consume plenty of water and take other precautions for protection against heat.
