Pune: Maharashtra Govt Allocates Rs 170 Crore To Alleviate Traffic Congestion In Chakan Industrial Belt
In an important development for Chakan industrial area, Mahesh Landge, Member of the Legislative Assembly for Bhosari, announced that funds worth ₹170 crore fund have been allocated by Maharashtra Government to address the persistent issue of traffic congestion in the Chakan Industrial belt. This move will bring substantial relief to industrial companies, workers, and residents in the area.
Highlights of the Project
The project involves the development of infrastructure such as a ring road and road sections to remove bottlenecks and boost connectivity. Here are the key components of the project:
- An alternative outer ring road for Chakan, aimed at easing traffic flow and improving connectivity
- Medankarwadi to Rase Phata (2.5 km): This stretch will be developed to provide a smoother transit route, helping to decongest the main roads.
- Sanny Company, Nanekarwadi to Samruddhi CNG Pump (1.2 km): Another critical section to enhance access to industrial sites and facilitate easier movement of goods and employees.
- Hingane Chowk to Volkswagen Company, Kharabwadi (0.9 km): This portion will be improved to reduce bottlenecks and ensure better traffic management near major industrial hubs.
The development of these roads is expected to help in resolving traffic issues and enhancing the ease of doing business in the region. Industrial companies, workers, and local citizens will benefit from reduced travel times and improved road safety.

A few days back, Dilip Batwal, the secretary of the Federation of Chakan Industries, had said, “The problem in Chakan Industrial Estate is increasing day by day. For the past several years, we have been pursuing this with the government agencies. Now our patience is reaching its end. Inadequate infrastructure is taking a heavy financial toll on industries” This project is expected to provide the much-needed relief for the residents.
