In a major boost for Pune Metro commuters, a state-of-the-art cable-stayed bridge connecting Chhatrapati Sambhaji Garden Metro station and Shaniwar Peth is slated to be operational by March 2025, as per officials.

This pedestrian-exclusive bridge, currently under construction parallel to the Balgandharva bridge, is designed to offer seamless connectivity for residents of the Peth areas, directly linking them to the Metro station across the river.

An official at Maha Metro shared insights, stating, “The bridge is expected to be completed in the next two-three months, and we hope to finish ahead of schedule. Meanwhile, another bridge is under construction in the Deccan Gymkhana and Pulachi Wadi area, but it is likely to take more time.”

In addition to the bridge structure, Maha Metro is working on installing lifts and staircases near Vartak Garden at the bridge’s entry point. On the opposite side, the bridge will connect directly to the Metro station’s concourse area, enhancing convenience for users. Regular commuters have emphasized the importance of ensuring easy access to the bridge to maximize its utility and encourage widespread usage.

This infrastructure development underscores Pune’s commitment to improving urban mobility and promoting pedestrian-friendly transit solutions.
