The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) is planning to conduct the Bhoomipujan for the proposed Pune-Pimpri-Chinchwad Ring Road before the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections. The state government aims to initiate this significant infrastructure project before the Vidhan Sabha’s code of conduct comes into effect, ensuring uninterrupted progress. Preparations for the event are currently underway.

To alleviate traffic congestion in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, the MSRDC has undertaken a 172 km, 110-meter wide ring road project. This project is divided into East and West sections. The Eastern route will pass through Maval (11 villages), Khed (12 villages), and Haveli (15 villages), while the Western route will affect Bhor (3 villages), Purandar (5 villages), Haveli (11 villages), Mulshi (15 villages), and Maval (6 villages) talukas. Land acquisition for 644 hectares in 31 out of 34 villages on the Western route is complete, with Rs. 2975 crores already disbursed.

The Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd. (HUDCO) has financed Rs. 10,000 crores for the land acquisition on the Western route. Additionally, the Maharashtra State Government allocated Rs. 10,519 crores in the interim budget for the Eastern route land acquisition. The Pune District Administration has finalized the acquisition in Khed and Haveli talukas, with minor acquisitions remaining for 2-3 villages on the Western route. The Eastern route acquisition is progressing swiftly, and Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase expects completion by July, as reviewed in recent progress meetings.
