Pune: Nitin Gadkari Explains Traffic Jam Challenges, Reveals Ambitious Road Infrastructure Plans

Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, discussed the long-standing issue of traffic jams, saying that despite building more roads and highways, the problem still continues due to the increasing population and number of vehicles.

Addressing a campaign meeting, Gadkari said there was need for innovative solutions to address the problem of traffic jams to benefit everyone.

He revealed plans for a double decker flyover on the Pune-Aurangabad highway, with an allocated budget of Rs. 40,000 crores. Additionally, a double decker route from Nashik Phata to Chandoli is planned to alleviate congestion on the Pune-Nashik route, with an estimated expenditure of 10,000 crores.

He said, the government was making efforts to solve the problem of traffic congestion in Pune city. He announced plans for the construction of a six-lane highway, a flyover, and a metro line on the third tier.

Plans for a 54 km long three-decker highway and metro on the Talegaon Chakan Shikrapur route are also in progress.

Gadkari reiterated the importance of infrastructure development to benefit farmers, laborers, and workers. He said steps are being taken such as the introduction of electric tractors and ethanol production to transform farmers into energy providers.
