Pune: PCMC Announces Water Supply Disruption on July 31
Pimpri, July 29, 2024: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a heavy rainfall warning for Pune district on July 24 and 25, 2024. In view of this warning, the shutdown on July 25 to carry out essential water supply operations of the gravity pipeline connecting Pimple Gurav to Dapodi was cancelled. However, due to the need of the work, this shutdown will be held on 31st July and the water supply of Dapodi village will be closed from 10 am to 10 pm, said Chief Engineer of Water Supply Department Srikant Savane.
Apart from this, the water supply department has also informed that the morning water supply to all the areas of Dapodi on Friday, August 1, will be irregular and low pressure due to the closure of all the water supply systems in the Dapodi area for repair work.
The shutdown was imposed on July 25 for Dapodi in Pimpri Chinchwad city as the gravity pipeline on the bridge connecting Pimple Gurav to Dapodi in Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation limits was required to carry out essential water supply operations. According to the order of the Collector and Chairman District Disaster Management Authority Pune and as per the previous advice given by the Indian Meteorological Department, a red alert was given to Pune district on 24th and 25th July. The shutdown was postponed in view of the warning. Therefore, water supply to Dapodi village will be closed from 10 am to 10 pm on Wednesday 31st July to carry out the said work.
The morning water supply to all areas of Dapodi on Friday, August 1, will be irregular and low-pressure due to the closure of all water supply systems in Dapodi area for repair work. Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal appealed to the citizens to use the water sparingly by storing adequate water available and co-operate with the municipal corporation.
