Yesterday, on May 29, the Construction Development Department of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) initiated action against unauthorized constructions, including tin sheds, hotels, pubs, and chowpatties, in the Balewadi High Street area. During this operation, approximately 52,848 square feet of construction was demolished.

The crackdown continued, with several pubs, bars, restaurants, and chowpatties in the Baner and Balewadi High Street area facing encroachment actions from the PMC. This action follows the recent Porsche incident in Kalyani Nagar, which has prompted various measures targeting pubs, bars, restaurants, and encroachments across the city.

Among the establishments affected were Feast India Co., Awadhi & Asian Restaurant, Darjeeling Cafe, Brew Merchant Cafe & Bar, Global Chaska, Dockway Kitchen and Bar, Punjabi Chaap Corner, Jagadamb Veg Non Veg, Circuit House, Madari Resto Bar, Hippie @ Heart, Nawab Asia, and The 3 Musketeers Pub.

The encroachment action was carried out by a team led by the Superintendent Engineer of PMC, Shridhar Yevalekar, Executive Engineer Jaywant Pawar, Deputy Engineer Prakash Pawar, and Junior Engineers Vishwanath Bote, Sandeep Chabukaswar, Ajit Sanas, Ketan Jathav, among others.
