With the onset of the monsoon, waterborne diseases can spread through drinking water, posing a health risk to citizens. As a precautionary measure, it is advised that citizens take the following precautions:

Precautions to Take During the Monsoon:

  1. Use purified water for drinking.
  2. Do not use water from unused wells for drinking purposes.
  3. Avoid consuming open or stale food.
  4. Boil and cool drinking water, then keep it covered.
  5. Wash hands thoroughly with soap after using the toilet and before eating.
  6. In cases of diarrhea, loose stools, chills, fever, etc., seek immediate treatment from ASHA workers, nurses, health workers, or contact Pune Municipal Corporation’s health centers.
  7. Use ORS or a sugar-salt solution to prevent dehydration during diarrhea.
  8. Do not defecate in the open; use toilets.
  9. If there is an outbreak of dysentery, diarrhea, or jaundice, drink water only after adding chlorine liquid.
  10. Clean the underground and overhead water tanks in your building, repair any faucet leaks, valve leaks, and keep the area around the tank clean.
  11. Keep stored water covered and do not store water for more than five days.
  12. Observe a dry day once a week. Empty, wash, and dry water containers once a week. Prevent mosquito larvae from breeding in the water.
  13. If an epidemic spreads, immediately inform ASHA workers, health workers, or Pune Municipal Corporation health centers.
