Pune: Police to strictly enforce 48-Hour Campaign Ban Ahead of Voting for Maharashtra Assembly Elections
Pune, November 17, 2024: The Police Commissionerate of Pune City Police has announced that election campaigning must be halted 48 hours before the polling for the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections, by the Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) for the 72 hours preceding the elections.
This order was issued by Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma to ensure peace and order during the electoral process and provide an opportunity for the voters to make up their mind without any influence or prejudice.
The assembly constituencies under the Pune City Police Commissionerate’s jurisdiction include Shirur, Purandar, Bhor, Vadgaonsheri, Shivajinagar, Kothrud, Khadakwasla, Parvati, Hadapsar, Pune Cantonment, and Kasba Peth.
The order strictly prohibits any such campaigning or activities related to elections such as unlawful gatherings, public meetings, assemblies of more than five people, or any form of rallies by candidates within these constituencies.
This restriction will remain into effect from 6 PM on 18th November and remain in effect until the end of 20th November, the polling day.
