Pune recorded coldest day of the year today morning at 12.1 degrees Celsius, NDA shivered at 10.5 degrees
Pune on Monday morning recorded its coldest day of the season so far according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The city’s temperature dropped to 12.1 degrees Celsius at Shivajinagar, while further drop is expected in the next few days due to cold winds blowing from the north.
In the last two weeks, Pune’s minimum temperature had ranged between 12.2 to 12.3 degrees Celsius, and the reason behind this is believed to be clear skies and cold winds blowing from the north. On Monday morning, Pune’s NDA area was the coldest place in the city with 10.3 degrees Celsius, while Pashan in western Pune recorded a temperature of 12.2 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the temperature in Magharpatta area was 18.1 degrees Celsius, which was relatively warm.
Meteorological department officials say that Pune and surrounding areas are likely to get colder in the coming days as north and northwest winds are moving towards the city. In such a situation, the temperature may drop to 10 degrees Celsius.
The India Meteorological Department said that the temperature in Pune and other areas was expected to be warmer than normal this November, but now with the arrival of northerly winds, the temperature is falling. According to officials, the winter season will start gradually in December and January.
Many other parts of Maharashtra are also witnessing a drop in minimum temperature these days. The temperature has already reached between 11-12 degrees Celsius in most parts of the state and it is likely to fall further in the coming days.
