This marks an increase of 1 TMC compared to last year’s storage of 21.53 TMC, which was 73.86% of capacity. The rise in water levels has alleviated concerns over water shortages for both drinking and agricultural purposes in the region.

The timely arrival of the monsoon, followed by heavy rains, contributed to replenishing the key dams—Khadakwasla, Panshet, Varasgaon, and Temghar. These dams supply drinking water to the city and agricultural water to nearby talukas.

Current Water Levels in Khadakwasla Project Dams:

  • Khadakwasla: 0.84 TMC (42.34% full)
  • Panshet: 8.72 TMC (81.89% full)
  • Varasgaon: 10.97 TMC (85.55% full)
  • Temghar: 1.83 TMC (49.23% full)

In addition, Tata Mulshi Dam, at 75.41% capacity with 13.92 TMC of water, supplies areas like Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjawadi and parts of PCMC.

The improved water levels are a relief for farmers in the Haveli, Daund, Indapur, and Baramati talukas, as 1,100 cusecs of water are being released from the Khadakwasla Dam for irrigation purposes. This ensures adequate support for agricultural activities during the dry season.
