Several residents from Baner, Balewadi, Sus, Mahalunge, and Pashan protested at Radha Chowk in Baner today against the civic administration’s inaction on potholes and other traffic issues in the area.

Braving heavy rain, the residents attended the protest aimed to highlight critical local issues such as traffic congestion, potholes on roads, and the need for alternative routes.

Residents in these areas have suffered from severe traffic jams, pothole-ridden roads, and unfinished alternative routes for nearly two years. The constant traffic delays have taken a toll on the physical and mental health of the communities living in the area.

With repeated complaints to the administration going unaddressed, the citizens today, led by former corporator Amol Balwadkar, came to protest with a bullock cart and chanted slogans against the administration in the pouring rain. Representatives from various local societies, including women, were present to voice their grievances.

Protestors’ Demands

The protestors demanded that the following issues must be addressed immediately on a priority:

  • Repairing potholes immediately to provide potholes free roads in the area
  • Ensuing all signals in the area are operational
  • Installation of barricades
  • Improvement of NH-4 service road
  • Early completion of the Balewadi-Wakad Road.
  • Improvement of Mhalunge-Nande road

The absence of responsible officials and representatives from the administration during the protest led to the symbolic burning of a memorandum in a display of their dissatisfaction. The residents firmly conveyed their resolve to continue their agitation until their demands are met.

The protest reiterated the urgency of the situation, urging the municipal administration to take swift action to alleviate the ongoing issues faced by the residents of Baner, Balewadi, Sus, Mahalunge, and Pashan.
