Pune: Rs 13 Lakh Worth of Foreign Liquor Seized in Pune During Election Code of Conduct Period

Pune, November 15, 2024: The Pune division of the Maharashtra state excise department seized foreign liquor worth Rs 13 lakh at Otur in Junnar taluka of Pune district during the model code of conduct period in view of the Maharashtra assembly elections.

On November 13, the excise team received information about illegal storage and sale of foreign liquor, wine and beer at the Otur Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus stand. The team conducted a raid and seized 100 boxes of foreign liquor, 125 boxes of beer, and 37 boxes of wine, a total of 262 boxes, worth Rs 13,20,420.

A case has been registered against Mayur Purushottam Tambe for this illegal activity. The operation was led by Excise Inspector Devdutt Pote of Flying Squad No. 3, assisted by Assistant Inspectors YM Chavan and PA Thackeray, Assistant Sub-Inspector Sanjay Sathe, and Constables Sarvashri Chavan, Amar Kamble, Jaydas Dete, Anil Dangat, and Sharad Handgar.

The operation was supervised by Pune Division Excise Superintendent Charan Singh Rajput.
