Pune: Scorching summer shows no signs of relief, sets new records

Pune, April 30, 2024: Shivajinagar in Pune has recorded the hottest April this year, at least since 2013, with average maximum temperature reaching 39.63°C, revealed Vineet Kumar, a noted weather scientist.

Magarpatta, Pune recorded a high of 43 degrees Celsius today while some places near Pune have recorded even 44 degrees.

Even the nighttime temperatures are giving sleepless nights to the residents of Pune, with temperatures refusing to fall below 27-28 degrees Celsius.

According to Climate Research and Services, IMD Pune, first three highest maximum temperatures reported in Maharashtra today, 30-04-2024 are as follows:

  • Solapur – 44°C
  • Akola – 43.9°C
  • Malegaon – 43.2°C

The department further predicts likelihood of heatwave tomorrow May 01 with temperatures staying above 41-42 degrees Celsius.

Kalaikunda in West Bengal has recorded 47.2 degree Celsius today.

Citizens are advised to take precautions against heat stroke and avoid going out between 11 am to 4 pm.
