Pune: Sharp decline in Dengue and Chikungunya Cases in Pune in November
Pune, November 13, 2024: The successful intervention efforts of civic authorities and the end of the monsoon season have led to a steady decline in cases after months of rising numbers in Pune.
Since Diwali, the number of dengue and chikungunya cases in Pune has significantly decreased, according to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). Thanks to successful intervention efforts and the conclusion of the monsoon season, the city is currently seeing a steady decline in cases after months of rising numbers.
More than 50 dengue cases were reported in November, which is a significant decrease from the peak months of August and September. Furthermore, this month saw no new chikungunya cases reported, marking a significant improvement from the disease’s peak in September, when more than 200 cases were reported.
The decrease in dengue and chikungunya incidence highlights how well PMC’s focused mosquito control initiatives have been in halting the viruses’ spread. Seasonal variations, which result in fewer mosquito breeding grounds throughout the winter, are also factored for the decline.
