Pune, May 04, 2024: In a welcome news for the residents of Pune and particularly for those residing near Yerawada and Shastrinagar, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has received the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Archeology Department for the construction of Shastrinagar Chowk flyover and grade separator, paving the way for the project to proceed. MLA Sunil Tingre shared this information through his social media handles.

The area around Shastrinagar Chowk has been facing severe traffic congestion, particularly on Nagar Road between Yerawada and Wagholi. Recognizing the urgency of addressing this issue, funds were allocated in the PMC budget for the construction of flyovers and grade separators at strategic locations, including Shastrinagar and Kharadi Bypass.

The Kharadi flyover project, which was facing a similar delay due to the proximity of the Aga Khan Palace, a national monument, has already been resolved. The double-decker flyover on Nagar Road was rerouted to Vimannagar, easing traffic congestion in that area.

The Shastrinagar Chowk project was held up awaiting NOC from the Archeology Department. With the NOC now obtained, the PMC is expected to commence work on the flyover and grade separator once the code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 conclude.
