An inspiring act of honesty unfolded in Pune as auto driver Rajabhau Chandrakant Raskar returned a bag containing 8.5 tolas of gold left behind by a passenger.

His integrity was celebrated by the Swargate Police in a heartfelt ceremony. The incident occurred on the morning of Tuesday, December 10, when Raskar transported a woman from Panmala to Swargate. Around 8 a.m., the woman accidentally left her bag in the auto. Raskar discovered the bag only after reaching Sadashiv Peth and, without delay, took it to the Swargate Police Chowki. Meanwhile, the woman had already reported the missing bag at the Swargate Police Station.

The police called the woman to the station and verified the contents of the bag, confirming it held 8.5 tolas of gold. After proper checks, the bag and its valuable contents were returned to her intact.

In recognition of his exemplary honesty, the Swargate Police organized a felicitation ceremony. Raskar was honored with a shawl and a coconut by Police Sub-Inspector Balu Popat Sirsat and officers Amol Kate and Prabhakar Sonawane. Speaking at the event, Raskar humbly shared, “I was taught never to touch belongings that don’t belong to me. I feel grateful that my actions were recognized, and it gives me immense joy to know my honesty was appreciated.”
