Pune: Traffic Restrictions and Diversions Announced in Camp Area Ahead of Christmas Celebrations

Pune, December 24, 2024: The Pune Police have announced temporary traffic diversions and road closures in the Camp area on 24th and 25th December 2024 to ensure smooth traffic flow and the safety of pedestrians during the Christmas celebrations.

These changes will be applicable on 24th and 25th December from 07.00 PM onwards till the traffic persists into the night.

Traffic Diversions and Road Closures Details:

  1. Traffic from Y Junction Towards MG Road:
    • Vehicles from Y Junction to Mahatma Gandhi Road will be halted at 15th August Chowk.
    • Traffic will be redirected via Qureshi Masjid and Sujata Mastani Chowk.
  2. Traffic from ISKCON Mandir Chowk to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Statue:
    • Vehicles heading toward Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Statue and Arora Tower will be stopped.
    • Diversions will lead vehicles through SBI House Chowk, Tintofa Chowk, and Lashkar Poste.
  3. Traffic from Volga Chowk to Mohammad Rafi Chowk:
    • Movement towards Mohammad Rafi Chowk will be halted.
    • Traffic will be redirected to Indira Gandhi Chowk via East Street Road.
  4. Traffic from Indira Gandhi Chowk to Mahavir Chowk:
    • Vehicles will be halted and redirected from Indira Gandhi Chowk to Lashkar Police Station Chowk.
  5. Traffic from Sarabatwala Chowk to Mahavir Chowk:
    • Traffic will be closed and diverted via Tabut Street Road.

Reason for Traffic Changes:
The diversions aim to manage the anticipated crowd on MG Road, a bustling area during Christmas festivities. Activities like street events and processions will attract a large number of pedestrians, necessitating these measures for safety and to prevent congestion.

Motorists are advised to plan their travel, use alternate routes, and follow on-ground officers’ directions for a hassle-free experience. The police have requested citizens’ cooperation to ensure the success of these arrangements during the festive period.
