Pune: Traffic restrictions for marathon at Sinhagad Fort on December 14-15; alternate routes announced

A marathon event organised by Simple Steps Fitness is scheduled to take place at Sinhagad Fort on December 14-15, due to which traffic will be completely closed in the area. District Collector Dr Suhas Diwase has issued an order for traffic restrictions to avoid overcrowding and keeping safety in mind.

According to Pune Rural Police, around 400 runners, guides, volunteers and spectators will gather in large numbers. In view of the expected crowd on Sinhagad Ghat Road, the authorities have decided to completely close this route and divert vehicles to alternate routes.

Traffic from Haveli Police Station to Golewadi Ghat Road and Khed-Shivapur will be completely restricted on December 14 and 15. Travellers have been advised to use the Donje-Khadakvasla-Wadgaon Dhayari route via the new Katraj tunnel for Khed Shivapur. Besides, the route from Rajgad police station area to Kondhanpur-Sinhgad Fort and Golewadi Ghat Road will also remain closed.

Dr Diwase clarified that vehicles headed towards Donje village or Golewadi can use the Khadakvasla-Donje or Khed Shivapur-Shindewadi route. Vehicles carrying essential services are exempted from these restrictions.
