According to officials, the loco pilot, R.T. Wani, and train manager, Ketan Ratnani, immediately alerted the station master. This led to a coordinated response involving the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), and local police. On Monday, RPF staffer Sharad Walke, 38, filed a formal complaint at the Uruli Kanchan police station.

Uruli Kanchan police inspector Shankar Patil stated, “We have registered an FIR under Sections 125, 327 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and Sections 150(1)(A), 152, 153 of the Railways Act, 1989. The probe is ongoing.”

The police have classified the case as mischief with intent to destroy or make railway operations unsafe, as well as a reckless act against unknown persons.

This prompt action by the train crew and authorities likely averted a major accident, emphasizing the importance of vigilance in railway operations.
