Pune: Truck Accident on Mumbai-Pune Expressway Leaves Driver and Animals Injured
Pune, January 08, 2025: A serious accident occurred on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway near Gahunje village in Maval, leaving a truck driver and several animals seriously injured.
The collision involved two trucks — one carrying sugar to Mumbai and the other illegally transporting buffaloes to a slaughterhouse in Deonar.
Eyewitnesses reported that the truck carrying animals was being driven recklessly when it collided with the sugar-laden truck. The impact was severe, causing significant damage to both vehicles. The driver of one of the trucks sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Tragically, several buffaloes being transported in the other truck also suffered serious injuries. It has been revealed that the animals were being transported illegally, raising concerns about animal welfare and road safety violations.
The accident caused major traffic disruptions on the expressway as authorities worked to clear the wreckage and restore normal traffic flow. An investigation is currently underway, and officials are expected to take strict action against the owner of the truck involved in the illegal transport of animals.
