Pune has recorded the lowest minimum temperature of this season. On Tuesday morning, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city’s temperature was recorded at 10.8 degrees Celsius. This is also lower than the previous minimum temperature of 12.1 degrees Celsius recorded on Monday.

The IMD said that the reason behind this drop is the north and northwest cold winds and clear skies, due to which the earth is cooling down rapidly. The weather center in Shivajinagar of the city recorded a minimum temperature of 10.8 degrees Celsius, while the National Defense Academy (NDA) recorded a temperature of 9.6 degrees and Haveli 9.5 degrees. At the same time, the temperature in areas like Hadapsar, Magarpatta and Chinchwad remained between 11 to 14 degrees Celsius.

Day temperature also dropped

Along with the night temperature, the maximum temperature of the day has also decreased. On Monday, Pune recorded a maximum temperature of 28.4 degrees Celsius, the lowest maximum temperature this season. This is 1.5 degrees below normal.

The IMD said that since the beginning of November, the temperature in Pune has been fluctuating continuously. The minimum temperature was recorded at 12.9 degrees Celsius on November 19, which increased to 13.6 degrees on November 21, but after that it came down to 12.1 on Monday and 10.8 degrees on Tuesday. The maximum temperature also dropped from 30 degrees on November 23 to 28.4 degrees Celsius on November 25.

Cold likely to continue for the next few days

A senior meteorologist at IMD said, “Temperatures are falling in Maharashtra due to cold winds coming from the north and decrease in humidity levels. The effect of cold will continue for the next five days. There may be light fog in the morning and the weather is likely to remain dry.”
