Pune: Wintery nights are around the corner; IMD predicts drop in night time temperatures with clear skies
Pune, November 09, 2024: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast colder than normal weather in Maharashtra and other parts of central and west India from November 15.
According to the IMD’s extended forecast (ERF), the minimum temperature in Maharashtra, central, west and east India will be 1-2 degrees Celsius below normal. Along with this, the maximum temperature is also likely to be below normal in central and west India, while it may be higher by 2-4 degrees Celsius in eastern India.
Anupam Kashyapi, former head of weather forecasting division of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Pune, said that the residents of Maharashtra will start feeling cold soon. Currently, the minimum temperature in Maharashtra was recorded at 14.6 degrees Celsius (in Nashik) and the maximum temperature at 36.1 degrees Celsius (in Dahanu). The weather is dry and the sky is clear across the state.
In Pune, people are experiencing sunshine during the day and cold at night. Last month, the October heat had caused the temperature to reach 36 degrees Celsius, but now in the last four to five days, the day heat has decreased and the nights have started feeling cold.
IMD Pune has forecast that the cold weather may set in Pune and its surrounding areas in the coming days. The city will have mainly clear skies and light fog is expected in the morning.
