Pune: Woman bites CISF constable, assaults co-passengers, removed from flight
Pune, August 19, 2024: A woman travelling on a private airline to New Delhi was removed from the aircraft after she assaulted two fellow passengers and a CISF constable at Pune’s Lohegaon Airport.
This incident occurred at Pune’s Lohegaon Airport, where a woman was removed from an IndiGo flight scheduled for New Delhi after she physically assaulted two fellow passengers and bit a CISF constable during the boarding process. The incident occurred on Saturday morning, around 7:45 am.
According to a report by TOI, the woman, whose identity is concealed, reportedly became agitated over seating arrangements and attacked two siblings, Anvitika and Aditya Borse, who were seated in their assigned spots. The altercation quickly went out of hand, forcing the flight crew to call for assistance from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
Constables Priyanka Reddy (26) and Sonika Pal were dispatched to handle the situation. However, when they attempted to escort the lady off the aircraft, she responded violently, slapping and biting Constable Reddy.
The lady was traveling with her husband to attend a relative’s funeral in Delhi. She was eventually restrained and removed from the flight. Both she and her husband were handed over to the airport police, and a case was registered against her for voluntarily causing hurt and obstructing a public servant from performing their duty.
According to a CISF official, the woman appeared to be in a state of extreme distress, possibly due to a personal emergency, which may have contributed to her aggressive behavior. The official said that the pilot refused to fly with the lady on board after the incident, leading to her removal from the flight.
Senior Inspector Ajay Sankeshwari of the airport police stated that the lady was released after being issued a notice to join the investigation as and when required.
