Pune Woman Falls Into 100-Foot Valley In Satara While Taking a Selfie
A 29-year-old woman from Warje, Pune, encountered a near-fatal accident during a day trip with friends to Satara.
The group had planned to visit the Thoseghar Waterfall, but since it was closed due to weather conditions, they decided to explore Bhorane Ghat instead. The picturesque spot attracted them to stop and click photos.
While taking a selfie, one of the women in the group lost her balance and fell in a hundred feet valley below. Miraculously, she got caught in a tree, which prevented a fatal disaster.Â
The woman’s friends quickly informed the Satara police, who then contacted a local trekking group for assistance. With their expertise and the support of the police, a rescue operation was promptly initiated.Â
The girl was rescued with the help of the Home Guard and local residents. The incident occurred amidst heavy rain in the region, which has caused waterfalls, including Thoseghar, to overflow.
Home Guard Abhijit Mandave played a crucial role, descending into the valley and securing Nasreen with a safety belt before pulling her to safety.
Despite her critical injuries, the woman is now stable and receiving treatment at a local hospital.
This incident highlights the risks tourists face while taking selfies and photos at dangerous spots. Bhorane Ghat and Kas Road in Satara attract many visitors who often venture too close to the edge, resulting in accidents like this.
The craze for perfect photo to be uploaded on social media often stymies the importance of personal safety. Tourists and visitors often risk their lives by venturing into dangerous zones, balancing precariously on edges, or ignoring warning signs just to capture a stunning image. However, no photograph is worth putting one’s life in grave danger.
