More than two months after passenger service began on the Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi stretch, the Pune Metro is facing delays in completing the critical Yerawada station. The station’s construction, which is expected to take more than a month, leaves commuters uncertain about its opening date.

Initially, one entry-exit point near the PMC Kalas Dhanori ward office was completed, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the stretch on March 6. However, due to alleged traffic congestion caused by the staircase, work on the other entry-exit point was halted in November.

Although resumed in February, completion is still pending.

Yerawada, an important stop along the 5.5-kilometer route between Ruby Hall Clinic and Ramwadi, is significant to residents who want the station completed as soon as possible. They must now trek half a kilometer to the Bund Garden station.

Hemant Sonawane, Pune Metro’s director, assured of ongoing efforts, saying, “The work is in progress and will be completed within a month.” Following completion, an inspection by the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) is required, which extends the opening timeline beyond a month. He went on to say that citizens should cooperate.

Yerawada, located on the Pune-Ahmednagar national highway, has heavy traffic, and the metro station is strategically located approximately 4.8 kilometers from Pune Airport. It connects areas such as Vishrantwadi, Maharashtra Housing Board, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Nagar, and Phule Nagar.
