QS World University Ranking 2025: Two universities from Pune rank in India’s top 20

Pune: QS World University Rankings 2025 were declared on Tuesday, June 04, 2024. Two universities from Pune have managed to secure positions among the top 20 in India.

Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and Symbiosis International (deemed university) are the two universities from Pune that have found a place in QS World University Rankings 2025 among India’s top 20.

Quacquarelli Symonds Limited, a worldwide university ranking platform harnesses billions of data points to compare over 1,500 universities and 15,700 academic programmes spanning 104 locations. They’re the most widely read rankings in the world, and the only rankings to spotlight employability and sustainability, reflecting the growing demand for visible, real-world impact.

Pune’s Top Ranking Universities

Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU)

SPPU, also known as Pune University, has secured 15th position amongst India’s top 20. Worldwide it is placed in the 631-640 ranking bracket. It has risen in ranking this year from a ranking bracket of 771-780 last year. SPPU has academic reputation score of 8.9, employer reputation score of 18.3 and faculty student ratio QS score of 48.8. However, its international faculty score is 1.4.

Symbiosis International (deemed university)

Symbiosis University has been ranked at 16th position in India’s top 20 universities and ranks worldwide in 641-650 bracket. Last year, Symbiosis University did not find a place in these university rankings. This private deemed university has been ranked 31st globally for employer reputation and stands 1st for employer reputation in India and is the second best private university in India.

Top Ranking Universities in India

According to QS World University Rankings 2025, the top ranking university in India is Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, with a worldwide ranking of 118. The second spot goes to IIT Delhi with worldwide ranking of 150 and Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru ranks third in India at 211 ranking worldwide.
