Rains to Subside in Maharashtra from Sept 29: IMD
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced a significant reduction in rainfall across Maharashtra, effective from September 29. As weather systems have moved away from the state, the IMD has withdrawn all alert levels, indicating a calming trend in weather conditions.
According to Anupam Kashyapi, the former head of the weather forecasting division at IMD Pune, the prediction made about 22 hours ago highlighted a Yellow Alert for isolated heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning for various districts. This alert was primarily relevant for areas in the northern regions of the state, specifically Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, Nagpur, Wardha, and Washim, where isolated heavy rain was expected.
However, are no more weather warnings for major urban centers like Pune and Mumbai. The forecast suggests that, starting tomorrow, barring a few districts in Vidarbha and Marathwada, the rest of Maharashtra will experience a shift towards calmer weather. On September 30, regions such as Konkan, Kolhapur, and Sangli may see some thunderstorms but overall conditions will improve significantly with only light to moderate rainfall occurring across the state thereafter.
The rest of the state can expect to witness mostly clear skies with light to moderate rain in a few isolated areas. This transition marks a welcome change for residents who have been coping with the recent bouts of heavy rainfall.
