Pune, January 15, 2025 – A shocking incident of road hooliganism has come to light in the Kharadi area, where a local resident was harassed and attacked by goons while returning home from work. The victim, Indranil Sinha, recounted the ordeal, which was shared on social media by road safety advocate Prateek Singh.

Sinha was returning from his office in Kharadi around 8:30 PM on Wednesday, December 11. While driving on the Kharadi-Hadapsar bypass near Accolade Society Road, his car inadvertently splashed water from a pothole, which he described as deep and difficult to avoid due to a parked scooter obstructing the path. The narrow and poorly maintained road conditions further complicated the situation.

Following the splash, a group of individuals on a two-wheeler chased down Sinha’s car, stopped him, and began to verbally abuse him. Despite his attempts to remain calm and explain that the incident was unintentional, the assailants became aggressive, with one individual even kicking his car, causing a dent before fleeing the scene.

Sinha promptly reported the incident to the police, providing the vehicle registration number. However, he expressed disappointment over the lack of action by the authorities. It was later revealed that the two-wheeler’s insurance had expired in 2012, yet no challan was issued against the offenders.

Sinha also noted that such incidents have been increasingly common in the Kharadi area, citing similar experiences shared by his colleagues. He expressed concern that police inaction has emboldened these hooligans, leading to a growing sense of lawlessness in the region.

The incident was shared by Prateek Singh, a known road safety advocate, on his social media platform, urging authorities to take immediate steps to address such rising cases of road violence and ensure public safety.
