Exciting Update: 6 kilometers of the ghat section of Mumbai Pune Expressway is now illuminated!

The Maharashtra State Road Development Authority (MSRDC) has successfully illuminated a crucial 6-kilometre stretch of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. This significant advancement is part of MSRDC’s continuous efforts to improve road safety and decrease fatalities on this important highway.

Initiative to Enhance Safety

In collaboration with the SaveLIFE Foundation, the MSRDC has focused on making the Mumbai-Pune Expressway safer for motorists. The foundation conducted an impact study as part of their Zero Fatality Solutions initiative, which revealed a startling 88% reduction in fatalities during the night along illuminated sections of the ghat section. Based on these findings, the MSRDC decided to install street lights on this 6-kilometre stretch to mitigate the number of crashes.

Collaborative Efforts

The successful illumination project on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway is a result of the combined efforts of several key stakeholders:

Maharashtra Highway Safety Police: Their continuous monitoring and enforcement have been crucial in maintaining safety standards.
Transport Department, Government of Maharashtra: Their policies and support have facilitated the implementation of safety measures.
Maharashtra Police: Their vigilance and prompt response to incidents have played a vital role in reducing crashes.

Positive Impact Since 2016

Since 2016, the collective efforts of these departments have significantly reduced the number of crashes on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The recent installation of lighting on the critical ghat section is expected to further enhance safety and save lives.

The illumination of this stretch marks a crucial step towards making the Mumbai-Pune Expressway safer for all. We extend our sincere thanks to the MSRDC for their dedication to road safety and for taking measures to prevent road crashes.

In conclusion, the Mumbai-Pune Expressway lighting initiative is a promising development in the ongoing efforts to improve road safety. With the illuminated ghat section, drivers can now expect a safer journey, especially during nighttime, contributing to a reduction in road accidents and saving lives.
