Techie in Bengaluru Dies by Suicide, Leaves 24-Page Note Alleging Harassment by Wife and Family
In a tragic turn of events, a 34-year-old techie, Atul Subhash, was found dead in his Bengaluru home on Monday. Originally from Uttar Pradesh, Atul worked as a senior executive for a private firm and lived alone in the Manjunath Layout under Marathahalli police station limits following a separation from his wife.
Atul left behind a 24-page suicide note, comprising four handwritten pages and 20 typed ones, detailing the turmoil he faced in his personal life. The note, which was also shared via email and a WhatsApp group associated with an NGO he worked with, contained serious allegations against his wife and her family, accusing them of harassment and financial exploitation.
Accusations in the Note
According to the note, Atul’s wife, who works at Accenture, was already receiving ₹40,000 monthly as maintenance but allegedly demanded an additional ₹2-4 lakh. He accused her of making his life unbearable, further alleging that she once told him to end his life.
In a video shared widely on social media, Atul expressed anguish over how his earnings were being used against him. “The tax I pay on my salary is helping the police and the legal system harass me and my family,” he said.
The techie had been embroiled in legal disputes initiated by his wife in Uttar Pradesh. A recent unfavorable court verdict added to his distress, with Atul noting in his video that he felt mocked by the judicial system.
