“The tiger ate parts of the man’s hips and thighs. The divisional forest officer also reported seeing pugmarks nearby. A man was killed and partially consumed by a tiger in the eastern range of the Raisen forest division near Bhopal, according to an official on Thursday. The incident occurred near Neemkheda village, about 35 kilometers from Bhopal city.

According to Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Vijay Kumar, Maniram Jatav’s (62) body was discovered in the forest around 4 p.m. on Wednesday. He had gone out to collect tendu leaves, according to PTI.

The official stated that the presence of canine marks on the man’s neck indicated that he was killed by a tiger. Tiger pugmarks were also found nearby. “Canine marks on the neck indicated that he was killed by a tiger, not a leopard. The animal consumed portions of the man’s hips and thighs. Its pugmarks were also found nearby,” Kumar explained.

The DFO added that the tiger most likely strayed from the Ratapani Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to over 60 tigers. “For the first time in recent history, a big cat mauled a man to death in the Raisen district forest. The location where the body was discovered is not a protected area,” Kumar stated.

The deceased’s family received compensation of ₹8 lakh. Forest officials have also begun patrolling the area to locate the big cat, and villagers have been warned not to enter the forest.

“We have increased patrolling in the area to locate the big cat. “Villagers have been asked not to go into the forest,” he stated.

In other news, a nine-year-old tiger responsible for the deaths of six people in Chandrapur district, Maharashtra, over the previous two months was apprehended last month.

After a two-month search, the elusive big cat was finally captured in the Karva-Ballarpur forest area. According to a senior official, the tiger outsmarted forest officials with its sharp animal instincts before succumbing to the bait placed inside a cage.

The tiger killed four people in the Central Chanda division and two in the Chandrapur division during its two-month rampage.
