Traffic Jam on Expressway: Long Queues on Mumbai-Pune Highway

Lonavala, Pune: With the weekend during the monsoon, long queues of vehicles have lined up at Khandala Ghat on the Mumbai-Pune Highway, further leading to significant traffic congestion as tourists flock to Lonavala. The traffic jam on the expressway has resulted in queues stretching five to six kilometers long.

The influx of Tourists Causes Traffic Jam on Expressway

With consecutive holidays on Saturday and Sunday, an influx of tourists is heading to Lonavala, causing a notable traffic jam on the expressway. Many vehicles are moving toward Lonavala in the morning contribute to the congestion. The onset of the monsoon has further boosted tourism in Maval taluka, attracting visitors from Pune, Mumbai, and other parts of the state to Lonavala.

Increased Vehicle Numbers Lead to Traffic Congestion

The sudden increase in the number of vehicles, including heavy vehicles, has worsened the traffic jam on the expressway. The citizens are facing a slow-moving traffic that is blocking the entire way with their waiting times exceeding hours while coming from Mumbai to Pune and vice versa. The weekend holidays have motivated a large number of citizens to step out of their homes that are continuously pouring into the city adding to the congestion.

These highway policemen have been clearing up the traffic jams in the expressway since morning. Currently, they are on the task of easing the heavy traffic, and police personnel have been posted at different points to regulate the traffic rush. The jam has prevailed since the morning hours, delaying those traveling individuals and those with a long journey distance.

Frustrated Commuters

Heavy traffic on the expressway has seen many the commuters demand for a quick relief from the jam. According to the recent ranks by the police, which managed the situation, the congestion remains a significant problem, especially for those traveling from Mumbai to Lonavala on tourism.
