Hinjewadi Cultural Association (HCA) organized an Independence Day themed trek to Korigad Fort on Sunday, August 11.

Forty six enthusiastic trekkers participated in this event. It was a unique combination of national pride, inclusivity and adventure.

A Trek of Collective Spirit

The group, including 10 children, started from Blue Ridge Hinjewadi at 4.00 am on August 11 and reached the Korigad Fort after a 78 kilometer bus journey. The trek to the top of the fort was 5.1 kilometers and the team was able to accomplish the feat in one and a half hour. Together, the trekkers took some 324,000 steps during this challenging but exciting ascent to the summit. Totally, from start to finish, the event sought 12 hours of unwavering commitment from the participants.

An Inclusive Event Across All Age Groups

The youngest trekker in the group was just 3.9 years old while the oldest was 71 years old. Even with such a wide age difference, all the participants showed remarkable resilience, smiling and encouraging each other right till the top.

The Culmination

Independence Day Themed Monsoon Trek

After reaching the top of Korigad Fort, the trekkers participated in a tree plantation drive as part of their “Save Trees – Plant Trees – Grow Trees” initiative. Finally, the event ended with an adrenaline pumping recitation of the National Anthem with the National Flag waving proudly in the background. This moment filled the trekkers with pride and unity, true to the theme of the trek: “One Nation | One Pune | One Hinjewadi | One Blue Ridge | One HCA.”

This Independence Day themed trek was not just about testing one’s physical endurance but also about developing a spirit of unity and pride among the participants. Guided by the sense of inclusivity, passion, commitment, national pride, health and fitness, the event was a grand success, endowing the participants with lasting memories of a special and unforgettable Independence Day celebration.
