Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: Top 7 features of its Futuristic Coaches with First Images
The prototype of the sleeper version of the Vande Bharat train is set to be revealed this year. The train is said to feature some top-notch facilities that will leave Rajdhani Express behind. Let’s talk about some of the special features in this article.Â
Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: The recently launched Vande Bharat sleeper train will soon be running on tracks. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has already launched the car body structure of the sleeper coach last month. A total of 7 Vande Bharat sleeper trains are expected to be added to the fleet of Indian Railways.
The features added to this futuristic train are expected to revolutionize the overnight journey of trains in India. The comforts of the coach are said to be better than that of Rajdhani Express trains. Let’s take a sneak peek at the top features of this new Vande Bharat sleeper train.
Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: Top 7 features
The prototype of the first Vande Bharat sleeper train will comprise 1 AC First Coach, 4 AC 2-tier Coach, and 11 AC 3-tier Coach. These trains are full of passenger-friendly features, including sensor-based lights in common areas, better couplers for jerk-free rides, comfortable berths, and so on.
1. Sleek Exterior of the Train
Vande Bharat sleeper train (BEML version) will have a front fascia design. This design is inspired by the “prowess of eagles,” featuring sleek lines and a “fierce aura” on its exterior.Â
2. Passenger Comfort is Priority
The priority of the Vande Bharat sleeper coaches will be the comfort of the passenger. The additional cushioning along each side of the berth, and redesigned ladder that provide easy access to the upper and middle berths is the extra touch every passenger will get to enjoy while riding the train.
3. Soothing to Eyes
The Vande Bharat prototype that is currently under construction at BEML is said to feature soothing tones of cream, yellow, and wood as its interior design. The basic blue is out of fashion for these Vande Bharat rides.
4. Sensor-based Lights in Common Areas
The upcoming Vande Bharat sleeper berth will have its very own sensor-based lighting system for its public areas. The idea of sustainability is also incorporated into this train with energy-efficient overhead lights. Moreover, floor strips are to be installed in every berth to facilitate night movement in the aisle.

5. Noise-free RideÂ
The Vande Bharat sleeper is said to be incorporated with inter-communication doors, noise insulation, as well as noise-cancelling techniques for a quieter cabin. Additionally, the train will also have special berths for differently-abled citizens and automatic exterior passenger doors.
6. Jerk-free RideÂ
The Vande Bharat sleeper express train is being designed to surpass the comfort standards set by Rajdhani Express trains. This new batch of trains will feature some top-notch engineering that will minimize jerks, vibrations, and noises, even at the speed of 160 kmph. The Vande Bharat sleeper trains will be self-propelled with distributed power, which removes the necessity of train pulling by the engine.Â
7. Advanced Toilet, like Aircraft
The Vande Bharat sleeper train’s toilet is said to feature an ergonomically designed, odour-free system. The toilet system will include a bio-vacuum toilet with modular fittings, just like aircraft. The wash basins are designed to prevent any water spillage. Moreover, the AC First car will offer a hot water shower facility to its passengers.
The prototype of the first Vande Bharat sleeper is likely to be released in the next 2 to 5 months. This prototype is currently under construction at BEML, in Bengaluru. It is in collaboration with ICF Chennai. Another Vande Bharat Sleeper train project is in the works and is expected to release in 2025.Â
