An automated system is being developed to address the issue of vehicles driving without valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates.

A new automated system is coming to enforce traffic regulations and penalise vehicles lacking a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate. This system, even operational at petrol pumps, aims to combat polluting vehicles on the road.

The penalty for driving without a valid PUC can be hefty – up to Rs 10,000. To address the issue of expired certificates, the system will not only identify non-compliant vehicles but also flag them for registration blacklisting.

Advanced AI Cameras to Track Vehicles

Roadside checks are no longer sufficient. This system uses advanced cameras at gas pumps to scan vehicle registration numbers. Whether you drive a petrol, CNG or diesel vehicle, the system will automatically check your PUC status. Vehicle owners with expired PUC certificates will receive instant fines directly to their phones.

Grace Period Before Penalty

Before hefty fines are imposed, ignorant owners will benefit from a brief grace period. The system will send them notifications reminding them to renew their PUC by a specific deadline and providing an opportunity to update their certifications.

Ignoring these reminders will result in a full ₹10,000 penalty sent directly to the driver’s phone. This system seeks to strike a balance by allowing for rectification while ensuring compliance with pollution regulations.

By proactively monitoring and enforcing PUC requirements, this system encourages drivers to keep their vehicles environment friendly.
