Vote Counting in Pune: Check list of counting centers, traffic advisories, parking facilities and security restrictions

Vehicular movement has been banned on South Main Road leading to the counting centers at the Food Corporation of India in Koregaon Park on Tuesday. This is where the votes for the Pune and Baramati Lok Sabha constituencies will be counted.
Police have prohibited any vehicles on the stretch between St Mira’s College and the South Main Road junction in Koregaon Park. Additionally, several lanes connecting North Main Road and South Main Road will be closed to vehicular traffic.
There will be tight security on Koregaon Park Road, Mangaldas Road, South Main Road, and North Main Road. Extensive parking arrangements have been made on the grounds of a school on North Main Road and along Koregaon Park Road.

Pune district collector and election officer Dr. Suhas Diwase stated that elaborate security arrangements are in place for three centres where Lok Sabha elections counting will take place on June 4. According to Dr. Diwase, the Pune Lok Sabha seat will have 21 rounds of counting, Baramati will need 24 rounds, Shirur will have 28 rounds, and Maval Lok Sabha will have 25 rounds. The counting process will start at 8 am, beginning with the postal ballots.

- Shirur Constituency – State Warehouse at Ranjangaon MIDC
Data entry will be performed for each round from the counting center after approval from the Returning Officer (RO). Dr. Diwase explained, “We have placed a three-tier system of security at the counting centers as per the guidelines of the Election Commission (EC). The outer ring will be secured by local police, the second ring by the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), and the inner ring by the Central Armed Paramilitary Forces (CAPF). In the presence of political representatives, the observer will randomly pick five polling stations for each constituency to count VVPATs and tally them with the EVM counting. I have personally checked the security arrangements three times and recorded them in three registers.”
Dr. Diwase added that all officers, including policemen, have been instructed to strictly follow the rulebook without any deviation. “No one will be allowed into the counting centers without proper authorization and a gate pass. Separate entry and exit routes for counting staff, candidates, and counting agents have also been planned.”
He further estimated that the counting of votes for the four parliamentary seats should be completed by 3:30 pm. Mobile phones are not allowed inside counting halls, and only election commission-approved identity card holders will be permitted entry.
According to the election commission, 1,626 election staffers will be deployed at the four counting centers in the city on June 4 when the fate of the four parliamentary seats in Pune district will be decided.
The counting for the Pune and Baramati Lok Sabha seats will take place at the Food Corporation of India (FCI) godown, the Shirur parliamentary constituency at the State Warehouse at Ranjangaon MIDC, and for the Maval constituency, the Balewadi Sports Complex will be the venue.
